Meet  Jiminy!!

Summer 2018 was her 4th summer on staff and we can’t wait for you to get to know this sweet lady!

Did you go to TCBC as a camper?

Yes, for 6 years.

How did you hear about TCBC?

My mom was a camper at Trout Creek.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

A Nurse. I’m studying to become one right now.

What is one embarrassing camp moment that you’ve experienced?

Peeing my pants when I worked my crew summer because I laughed too hard. But honestly, every girl pees their pants at least once during their crew summer.

What jobs have you had at camp?

I was on crew in 2015, a CIT in 2016 and 2017, and a Counselor in 2018.

What was your latest job at camp?

Girls Counselor.

What did you love about that job?

Seeing how happy the kids get when they experience the love of Jesus.

What was the hardest part of your job?

Never sleeping.

How did you decide on your camp name?

I was running out of time to pick a camp name before my frist summer on staff, so I started googling Disney names and Jiminy was the first one that stuck. I’ve actually never see “Pinocchio”!

Do you ever wish people called you by your camp name outside of camp?

Nope!

If you were stranded on an island & had to pick 3 TCBC staff members to rescue you, who would it be & why?

I would pick Blazer, Tropicana, and Swazi because I don’t think they would actually be able to rescue me from the island, but I know they would be able to find a way there. Then once they’ve gotten there I would have my 3 best friends on an island with me, so it would be a lot of fun.

What are some of your favorite things about TCBC?

The community. Campers are always so excited to come to camp and the staff are so loving and caring.

What’s your favorite activity at camp?

Creek Walking to TC Falls.

What is your favorite camp meal?

Grandma Sue’s oatmeal.

What is your favorite game we play at camp?

Diamond Smugglers.

What is a “God moment” camper story that you have seen or been a part of:

This past summer, I had a camper whose dad wasn’t in the picture and that was really hard for her because she felt unwanted and had a lot of unanswered questions. While we were talking, I explained to her that God is our true father and he loves her and wants her. Later that week, she received Jesus into her life because she saw how much he loved her.

How has your life been transformed by working at camp?

I’ve grown a stronger connection with God and now I have a strong community of friends who love Jesus!

What is a “God moment” story that has personally happened to you while you were at camp:

This past summer I was waiting to hear if I got more grant money from my college and one night in August I had a dream that I received $6,000 from my school. The next day I was telling Ravin (my Counselor Dean) about my dream and she said, “$7,000 in Jesus name.”

That night I was checking my email to see if I had heard anything from the school and I saw that I had received a grant of $7,000!!

Just enough to finish paying my tuition for freshman year!
Sometimes while I’m at camp, I forget that God continues to work in my life outside of camp and not just in the lives of the campers.

What has God been teaching you lately?

God has been teaching me what real love is and how to love people on their terms and not my own.

What has God been saying to you lately?

God has been telling me to be patient. I’ve been settling into college life and God has been telling me to not stress, be patient, and trust His plan.

What is one of the funniest things that has happened to you at camp?

My first summer on staff, Tropicana, Indigo, and I taped a baby doll to the ceiling of the crew cabin.

What is only of your fondest memories from working on staff?

Staff worship nights in the staff lounge.

What is a Bible verse that you keep coming back to lately? What is it teaching you?

1 Corinthians 13:4-7
1 John 4:7-10
John 15:9-13

These are the verses that God has been using to teach me what love is and how to truly love on their terms.

What is your favorite place at TCBC?

I love the Go Karts (aka: Corral). My first summer on staff all the girls on my crew would go up there and sing worship songs under the stars.

How would you explain working at TCBC to people who have never done it before?

One of the best experiences of your life. You get to live with your best friends for three months and be in charge of a bunch of crazy, fun kids! 🙂

What is your favorite camp skit?

Johnny got hit by a bus!!

What makes working at camp so fun?

The awesome staff and the joyous campers.

Would you recommend working at camp to someone?

Yes! I would recommend it because it’s the most amazing life changing experience and you’ll never regret it.
